MPA’S RESPONSE TO MEDIA QUERIES ON HAIXUN 31

In response to media queries on the visit to Singapore by the ship Haixun 31, a spokesperson of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said:
“Haixun 31 is a ship belonging to China’s Maritime Safety Administration (MSA). MSA is the civilian maritime regulatory body that formulates and implements regulations to ensure maritime safety and prevention of marine pollution in China. The visit of the ship is part of existing exchanges on technical co-operation on maritime safety and marine environment protection between MPA and MSA.
During the visit, MPA and MSA staff will be exchanging views on technical issues such as enhancing safety of navigation and port state control, and exploring further co-operation in enhancing safety of life at sea and marine environment protection. MSA staff will also be visiting MPA facilities such as the Port Operations Control Centre and the Integrated Simulation Centre.”
